Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate Certification Training (AZ-800 & AZ-801) FAQs: Cost, Training, Value

What are AZ-800 and AZ-801?

AZ-800 and AZ-801 are the two Microsoft exams you'll have to take in order to earn the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification. Together, they cover the skills and knowledge necessary to configure and manage Windows Server in on-prem and hybrid environments, and handle infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform workloads. AZ-800 is focused on administering the core infrastructure of hybrid Windows Server while AZ-801 details managing its advanced services.

How hard are the exams for the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate cert?

AZ-800 and AZ-801 are moderately challenging tests of server administration skills – what makes them challenging is their emphasis on Microsoft's official expectations related to infrastructure management and familiarity with all advanced hybrid services (even the ones you and your organization might not use regularly). Both AZ-800 and AZ-801 have between 40 and 60 questions. Both exams have a maximum score of 1,000 points, and a passing score is 700.

How much do the AZ-800 and AZ-801 certification exams cost?

Both AZ-800 and AZ-801 cost $165 to attempt, which means it will cost at least $330 to earn the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate. Microsoft doesn't have any prerequisites for the AZ-800 or AZ-801, so you don't have to pay for any other exams or earn any other certs before you attempt them. On the other hand, Microsoft does recommend several years of experience with Windows Server operating systems.

Is the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator cert worth it?

Yes, the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification is worth it for IT professionals who deal with server administration or have responsibilities supporting Windows networks. Passing AZ-800 and AZ-801 and earning the Hybrid Administrator cert are strong signals to future employers that you're committed to professional excellence and have a proven mastery of the operating system that their network devices depend on – and that looks great on a resume.

Who should take this course on hybrid Windows Server administration?

Obviously, anyone who already knows they'd like to earn the Hybrid Administrator Associate should take this course – it's the most direct way to learn everything you should expect to find on the AZ-800 and AZ-801. But even if you're not planning on earning it, anyone who needs to deepen their familiarity with hybrid environments or transition their experience from a different service provider to Azure should consider taking this course.
